Consistency does not equal rigidity

You can be kind to yourself AND get results…

We’ve been talking a lot lately amongst the team about what it means to have a consistent mindful movement practice - and specifically how important it is to fit our strength and flexibility training in each week.

And while it’s true that both the American College of Sports Medicine AND the CDC both recommend that all healthy adults do muscle-strengthening activities a minimum of two days per week…

… it’s not only that.

A regular Pilates practice will absolutely increase your strength and help you stay fit and agile as you age, but it’s also designed to down-regulate your nervous system and release tension and stress.

And the way we teach and practice at Innerstellar, it’s also THE BEST medicine for keeping the aches and pains of middle age and beyond at bay (in our humble opinion).

So yes, consistency is so important.

But that’s not to be mistaken with RIGIDITY.

You don’t need to be obsessive about doing it perfectly or doing it every day in the same way.

In fact, your body will likely respond well to changing things up a bit depending on your energy and stress levels as well as your fitness and wellness goals.

So there might be some times when it feels good to practice Pilates 5 or 6 days a week (yes you can do that!), and other chapters of life where your practice consists of some gentle myofascial release work on the mini-balls or foam roller, followed by a long Savasana (which is our favorite yoga + rest pose).

And of course, if you’re on vacation or away on a work trip it might not look anything like that at all. And that’s ok (seriously)!

In fact, that’s exactly why we created our two VIP Memberships, for those of you who are committed to regular Privates and/or Reformer classes at Innerstellar.

These are pay-in-full membership options that include 48 classes or sessions to be used within one year, at our BEST per-session pricing.

When you purchase a VIP Membership, not only do you get priority scheduling access (whereby you can book yourself out in your favorite time slot for months on end), but you also get the flexibility of being able to skip a week here and there without losing a session.

That’s because your classes or sessions can be used ANYTIME throughout the year - they don’t need to be used within the month, like on our monthly memberships.
