Our “Feels Fear but Does It Anyway” Leader, Senior Instructor Kristin “Kiki” Lovelace:

Kristin ‘Kiki” Lovelace began her career in movement at the age of six in tap shoes and a pink tutu, and took her first yoga class at age eighteen. She considers her own daily Pilates, Forrest Yoga and Vipassana Meditation practice as her foundation for healing, growing and evolving as a human being. She has been teaching full-time since 2001, and has a particular gift for helping students work with injuries and chronic pain.

As Owner and Director of Education at Innerstellar, Kiki is a Certified Forrest Yoga Teacher, Certified Pilates Instructor and anatomy nerd. Her passion for functional alignment and the therapeutic applications of Pilates and Forrest Yoga sprouted from her 5-year apprenticeship with her mentor, master educator and healer, Pilates Instructor Tom McCook.

Kiki opened Innerstellar in 2011, and delights in the ever-emerging beauty of each of her students, staff and teachers. She has deep reverence and gratitude for her Forrest Yoga Hoop, including her dear teacher and friend Ana T. Forrest, and all of her Forrest Yoga colleagues and students. When not teaching, she is often volunteering, meditating, hiking and hanging out with her friends and loved ones in the East Bay or performing with her 1960’s go go dance troupe, The Devil-Ettes!

Staff Instructor Aviva Levine:

Trained as a Forrest Yoga teacher under Ana Forrest, Aviva is fascinated with the body’s ability to heal and transform. Her teaching focuses on helping others experience this evolution in themselves. She will guide you into a deeper connection with your body through a practice that is intense-yet-playful. With compassion and humor; she creates classes to help you move from struggle and limitation, towards freedom of body and mind.

Finding comfort in movement, Aviva studied; ballet, jazz, and modern dance and played competitive ultimate frisbee. After a lifetime of physical activity, multiple injuries led her to Forrest Yoga. Her classes are an offering of the incredible benefits of simple techniques to heal; chronic pain, physical and emotional trauma, and injuries.

Always seeking more for both her personal practice and her teaching, Aviva complimented her Forrest Yoga training with the Niroga Yoga for Youth, and Pre/Postnatal trainings.

Aviva lives in the Bay Area, and joyfully shares her ever growing bag of tricks in private and group instruction.

Staff Instructor Marisha Doan:

Marisha Doan brings a lifetime of movement expertise to her yoga teaching.  She has studied many forms of dance from traditional Uzbek dance, to ballet, to modern, and found the nourishing movement practice of yoga 13 years ago as a complement to her dance training.  Unlike the performance orientation of dance, the internal focus of yoga allowed her to experience the deep connection between her body, her mind and her spirit.  Through practicing yoga Marisha found the space to explore and heal personal issues such as depression, grief, and disordered eating, as well as rediscover joy and passion including the love of going upside-down and creating new strengths!

Marisha is certified RYT 200 with training from Ana Forrest through the Forrest Yoga Foundation Training and the Samadhi Yoga Center in Seattle, WA, under the guidance of Kathleen Hunt. In addition she has completed 2 years in the Forrest Yoga Mentorship Program with Forrest Yoga Guardian Colleen Millen. She is currently working towards full certification in Forrest Yoga.

Guest Yoga Senior Instructor Colleen Millen:

Words from Colleen: I flat-out love yoga. I found yoga as a collegiate athlete with broken knees – the mat was the first place I could move my body without pushing into pain. Yoga and, more specifically, Forrest Yoga has been a constant companion in my recovery from depression and moving into more brilliant states of being. Over 10 years into my teaching journey I find myself at an incredible place: As a Forrest Yoga Guardian teacher I shepherd teachers through continuing education programs and as a student in JFK University’s Somatic Psychology program I am deepening my appreciation for the healing gifts of yoga as I work toward being a licensed therapist.

My classes build strength and empowerment and are modified for every shape, size, injury and ability level. I urge students to ride intensity and exhilaration waves with presence and breath. My classes are heated to 80-85 degrees to generate a cleansing sweat. Bring whatever your experience is to class we’ll rock on the yoga mat together!

Staff Instructor Kay Taylor:

Kay Taylor, RYT-200, offers a warm and grounded yoga class, with decades of experience as a well loved and respected intuitive healer, teacher and guide. Kay completed her 200 hour training in Stellarflow Yoga at Innerstellar to be able to integrate physical asana practice with her deep understanding of healing energetics and embodied spirituality. She is dedicated to ongoing study with every Forrest Yoga teacher she can possibly get to, and is enrolled in Yoga Tree's 300 hour program to obtain her RYT-500 designation. She is passionate about working with all ages, body types and challenges. Her years as a massage therapist fuel her wise and caring hands-on assists, which invite her students to tap into their inner stillness and strength without struggle. A survivor of many challenging situations including addiction, Kay offers teachings that come from her lifelong dedication to personal growth and spiritually grounded healing, and her attitude of delight, love and acceptance.

For years, Kay dabbled in yoga but didn't like it much, preferring the intensity of things like cardio/weights and raquetball. So when she discovered that yoga that can be both intense and gentle, and healing on all levels, it was a revelation. When Kay isn't on the mat, she has a thriving private practice where she blends her natural clairvoyant gifts with evolutionary astrology, hypnotherapy and energetic healing, as well as writing, teaching and lecturing at professional conferences. That leaves just a little time for family, two highly personable cats, long soaks in water, and a passion for cooking and all manner of creative pursuits.

Staff Instructor Kelsey Crane:

Kelsey's teaching style is fresh, soulful and compassionate.  She draws upon ten years of dedicated practice and five years of teaching experience to create a safe and warm classroom environment that encourages you to go deeper.  Forrest yoga helped Kelsey move through the darkest time in her life and to heal her own injuries, traumas and addictions.  Her daily practice now gives her the courage to live a life of integrity and passion.  Kelsey has over 500 hours of training and is certified in Hatha, Forrest and Prenatal yoga.  In addition to offering weekly and privates classes, Kelsey leads retreats internationally and hosts monthly women's gatherings.  Enthralled with the mysteries of the sacred feminine, Kelsey has worked as a birth doula and is an initiated 13 Moon Sister & Minister.  A lover of creativity she enjoys painting from her wild heart and singing on every occasion possible.  She is honored to serve her community through guiding others to discover their own innate healing intelligence.

Yoga Instructor Lisa Brooks:

Lisa is a Certified Forrest Yoga teacher who has been practicing yoga for over two decades and teaching Forrest Yoga since 2006. She creates an inspiring and safe space for students to connect with their own inner wisdom and to walk a healing path. Discovering Forrest Yoga after experiencing repetitive strain injuries as a musician, Lisa was drawn to its synergistic blend of breath, embodied awareness, strength building, and attuned alignment. Her classes weave these elements with skillful sequencing and gentle assists as she draws from her own experiences navigating and healing anxiety, trauma and injuries.

Lisa has studied extensively with Ana Forrest and Heidi Sormaz and is completing the Forrest Yoga Mentorship Program with Kelley Rush and Willow Ryan. She completed Jill Miller’s Level One Yoga Tune-Up Teacher Training and is in the Yoga Tree Advanced 500 Hour Teacher Training. Ever-curious about the body, Lisa is an Ayurvedic Health Educator, she holds a B.A. in Human Biology from Stanford, and is pursuing her Ph.D. at UC Berkeley in Sanskrit and the history of Indian medicine. A singer songwriter with four albums (aka. Allette Brooks), Lisa loves swimming in mountain lakes and rivers.
